Assistant Director of Bands
Kyle Harvison is currently in his second year as an assistant band director at MacArthur High School. He directs the Symphonic Band and assists with the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band and Musicianship classes. He also teaches beginning band classes at Travis Middle School and Sam Houston Middle School.
Mr. Harvison comes to us from Fort Worth, TX, where he spent two years as the Assistant Director of Bands at Western Hills High School. While at Western Hills, he assisted with the Cougar Marching Band, directed the Symphonic Band, and co-directed the Jazz Band.

A native of New Iberia, LA, Mr. Kyle A. Harvison holds a Bachelor of Music from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. While at NSU, he studied Horn Performance under Dr. Kristine Coreil, and was Drum Major for the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band for two years. After graduation from NSU in 2008, Mr. Harvison served as Director of Bands at Red River High School in Coushatta, LA. In 2011, he came to Texas under a full-time Graduate Assistantship at Texas A&M University-Commerce where he earned a Masters degree in Instrumental Conducting.
On horn, Mr. Harvison has performed with the Symphony Orchestras of Shreveport, LA, Natchitoches, LA, Longview, TX, and Texarkana, TX. Aside from the college marching bands of Northwestern State and LSU, his marching experience includes five years as a marching member (01,02,03,05,06) and one year on Brass staff (2011) with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. His professional affiliations include TMEA, the International Horn Society, and CBDNA. He is an active adjudicator with USBands, and works as a marching design consultant and drillwriter in Louisiana, Texas, and Illinois.
Mr. Harvison currently resides in Fort Worth, TX with his lovely wife, Kristian, and his adorable children Klayton and Karoline. He enjoys watching live music, cooking, and he is an avid sports fan!
