To “Boost” is to encourage, motivate, promote, support.
To “Booster” is to do all that for Mac Band!
We are fortunate that Texas continues to advocate Fine Arts and Music education. However, the reality is that in today's economy, state funding and the school district budget simply do not meet the needs of an accomplished band and guard program. This is where YOU can make a difference!
So, how does one booster 150+ talented students and their dedicated directors? Certainly, not on your own! By combining our time, talent and resources, we are able to serve as Partners, Fundraisers, and Supporters to promote Superior performances by our band and guard students. This may sound like a massive undertaking, but one of the best-kept secrets in all of MacArthur High School is that we actually have a lot of fun doing it! Let’s Booster!

The Band Boosters are involved! We volunteer our time, talent and resources, and support each other as we prepare our students (and ourselves!) for life after high school. You would be amazed at the amount of advice you can get while decorating school buses for competition, in a carpool to a game, or while scooping popcorn and slinging nacho cheese in the concession stands.

All funds raised by the Band Boosters go directly into YOUR band program. We raise money to subsidize or pay for operating costs not covered by limited state funding or the IISD budget. In additional to selling concessions at Irving School Stadium, we have many on-going programs and fundraising campaigns to raise money for the purchase of supplies, awards, props and teaching aids, as well as secure guard and clinician instruction, scholarships for private music lessons, host non-profit activities and provide refreshments at social events. The Band Boosters are your resource for financial matters with supply and service companies. This means that we can obtain quotes for the lowest possible price, collect payment from the students, and write one check to the vendor. The Band and Guard Activity Fees are not fundraisers. They are set at the break-even point to afford each student the opportunity to participate in the Band. The Band Boosters also solicit individuals and local businesses for donations, sponsorships, and monetary contributions towards the general fund.
The MacArthur Band Booster meeting is typically scheduled for the 3rd Monday each month at 7:30 pm in the MHS band hall. It is a free, fun informal meeting that everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. It is during these meetings that we receive the latest news from the Band Director and various committees to discuss and decide how we can best support the band. Join the fun and earn 1 volunteer point just for attending!
